Data Integration

These days there's no shortage of data,
but there’s huge variability and
duplication – and masses of data
are of limited use without an ability
to make accurate forecasts and predictions,
or meaningful reports.
Currently, information about our water
resources is maintained by many different
agencies to varying standards - and with
generally restrictive access arrangements.
There are major variations in data specification,
format and storage. Various jurisdictions
are almost certainly developing their own
technical solutions in the absence of agreed
national standards, potentially exacerbating
the problem.
WRON does not require centralisation;
the data does not have to reside within
a single agency. But it does require each
data ‘custodian’ to agree to
participate.
An ‘integration contract’ may
be signed whereby their data is made ‘visible’ on
the internet, in a format that is ‘compliant’ with
an agreed data specification. Contact us
now to be a part of WRON.
